Aerial survey & observation
Wildlife counts, shoreline observation, route reconnaissance and visual survey work planned around visibility and mission needs.

Research & mission support
Custom aerial and remote logistics support for agencies, researchers, survey teams, vessels and field projects around Kodiak.
Mission-specific flying
Kingfisher has supported private and government work across Kodiak Island and the archipelago. Some projects need a stable observation platform; others need people and freight moved to a remote site in a narrow weather window.
Early planning gives us time to review routes, payloads, equipment, permissions, communications and contingencies before field dates are committed.
Capabilities
Wildlife counts, shoreline observation, route reconnaissance and visual survey work planned around visibility and mission needs.
Personnel, instruments, supplies and resupply flights to suitable remote landing locations.
Passenger and priority freight movement for vessels and coastal operations where floatplane access is suitable.
Flight profiles developed collaboratively for production, documentation and specialized assignments.
What to include
ObjectiveWhat must be observed, delivered or completed?
Operating areaCoordinates, maps, route, altitude needs and alternate locations.
People & payloadIndividual weights, equipment dimensions, batteries, fuel and sensitive freight.
TimingField dates, required light or tide, duration, repeat flights and weather flexibility.
CoordinationAgency contacts, permits, vessel communications and on-site personnel.
Aircraft selection
The DeHavilland Beaver is a proven platform for passengers and bulky remote loads. The Bush Hawk’s visibility and efficient smaller-group capacity can suit observation and survey work. Final aircraft selection depends on the mission, payload and conditions.
Compare the fleet →Past support
Kingfisher’s prior survey and project work includes support for the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, Alaska State Parks, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Kodiak Regional Aquaculture Association and Island Trails Network, as well as operations on Koniag Native Corporation lands.
Kingfisher was formerly OAS-carded for work supporting the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. That carding is not currently active.
